Restorative Yoga Classes

What is Restorative Yoga?  Restorative yoga is simply that - restorative. It is the centering of your breath and body - aligning the physical and mental by practicing stillness or gentle movement for extended periods of time. Restorative Yoga provides rest and rejuvenation to muscles and connective tissues.  By arranging the body strategically and supporting it with props you'll experience deep rest and healing.  You'll get the usual benefits, multiplied many times over because of the long holds.  Restorative yoga relieves stress and takes you to a quiet place that is meditative and ideal for processing emotions.  Restorative yoga is for everyone, no matter your age or fitness level.  Even my 81 year old father takes restorative yoga classes.

Meditation Workshops

Why Meditate?  Scientific research into the effects of meditation suggest it has measurable impact on our biology and physiology.  Benefits of a regular, sustained meditation practice may include lower stress and anxiety levels, increased energy, sharper thinking and problem solving skills, reduction of addictive behaviors, lower cholesterol, relief from headaches and more.

Yin Yoga Classes

What is Yin Yoga?  Yin yoga targets deep connective tissues, bones, joints, fascia and ligaments in the body.  Working our fascial system and deep tissues keeps our bodies from becoming dense and tight as we age.  Yin yoga is great for  reducing stress in the body and mind.  Holding poses without distraction for several minutes teaches us to relax.  We begin to release tension that is deeply ingrained in our muscles.  Static stretching increases range of motion.  Therefore if you are tight due to repetitive movement from other sports activities, or your day job keeps you in the same position all day, Yin yoga will help stretch it out.

Kids Love Yoga

Why Children's Yoga?  Yoga provides tools needed for dealing with increasing peer and academic pressure.  The physical aspect of yoga helps produce endorphins that make us feel happy and breathing techniques help slow down the heart rate and calms the mind as well as the body.  Yoga also develops coordination and balance, enhances concentration, increases confidence and self esteem and encourages self-acceptance and compassion for others and the world we live in.
